Mahant absconding for a long time
Police have increased the reward amount to Rs 1 lakh on absconding Mahant Mukesh Giri of Muradnagar Chhota Haridwar in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad. Mahant Mukesh Giri has been absconding for the past four months. Mahant is accused of installing CCTV cameras above the changing room and recording images of women changing clothes. Even after the passage of almost 4 months, the police have failed to nab Mahant.
It has been almost 4 months since Mukesh Giri, the Mahant of the Shani Mandir located on the Muradnagar Ganga Canal, went on the run, but the police have yet to arrest the Mahant. Ghaziabad’s Ganga Canal was presented to the public by Mukesh Giri as a religious site in the name of Chhota Haridwar, but it is alleged that Mahant used the changing rooms of women who came to bathe here in the guise of this religious site. CCTV is recording video while changing clothes on the ghat. Thereafter, a case was registered against Mukesh Giri in this matter. Since then Mukesh Giri is absconding. Now the police have increased the reward amount to 1 lakh rupees.
Who is Mukesh Goswami?
Mukesh Goswami lived with his family in a colony in Muradnagar. While worshiping in the Shani temple built on the Ganges Canal in Muradnagar, he became the Mahant of the temple there. He named this canal ghat Chhota Haridwar, after which people used to come here for worship and bath because of their faith. On 21 May 2024, a woman along with her daughter came to take a bath at the Muradnagar Ganga Canal. After taking a bath in the Ganges canal, when the woman went to the changing room to change her clothes, while changing her clothes, the woman saw a CCTV camera installed above the changing room. After this, it came to light that CCTV cameras were installed in the changing room and after the video was made, Mahant Mukesh Goswami was accused of making videos of women changing clothes.
CCTV was connected with Mahant’s mobile
After seeing the CCTV, people created a ruckus at the canal ghat. The matter reached the police. When the police started investigating the case, the police investigation revealed that a CCTV camera was connected to the mobile of Mahant Mukesh Goswami, based on which the CCTV video was being stored in the storage of the mobile. When the mobile was searched, its evidence was also found in the mobile, the woman searched the mobile as soon as she came to know about the CCTV video. The woman lodged a complaint against Mahant at Muradnagar police station in Ghaziabad. After a complaint was registered against the mahant, the Irrigation Department also used bulldozers to demolish the illegal encroachment by Mahant Mukesh Goswami on the canal.
Mahant Mukesh Giri is absconding since the case came to light. After registering the case, the police announced a reward of 25 thousand rupees on Mukesh Giri. After some time, the police once again increased the reward to Rs 50,000, but now the police have increased the reward on Mahant. Which has been increased to one lakh. The police failed to arrest Mukesh Giri for almost 4 months.
