Just 7 days after the Kolkata rape case, a shocking news emerged from Badlapur, Maharashtra, where two innocent girls in a private school were sexually molested by a school cleaner. The girls are only 4 and 6 years old. After this news came to light, the anger of the residents of Badlapur erupted against the accused. On August 13, 2024, cleaning worker Akshay Shinde took girls aged 4 and 6 to the toilet at a prominent private school in Badlapur. The cleaner allegedly removed the girls’ clothes and sexually assaulted them inside the toilet. Both girls did not say anything due to fear. On August 16, one of the two girls refused to go to school. Her parents became suspicious when the girl refused to go to school.

Thus the act came to light

The family decided to go to the doctor and took the girl for a checkup. The doctor confirmed that there was an injury in the girl’s private part. After this, when the girl was asked, the innocent girl told about the misdeeds of the sweeper. When the frightened innocent child told the family about the scavenger’s act, the ground slipped from under his feet. The whole matter was reported to the police.

The police adjourned

When the family members went to the police and filed a complaint against the school cleaner, the police delayed. The family alleges that the police took 10-12 hours to register the FIR. The police could not understand the seriousness of the incident. However, the sweeper was arrested on August 17 after a case was registered. As soon as the matter came to light, the school administration took immediate action and suspended the school principal, class teacher and a female employee.

People got angry

On the one hand, an incident has come to the fore that brings tears to humanity’s eyes, on the other hand, indiscriminate action is being taken by the police. Due to these two, the patience of the people of Badlapur broke. Four days after the incident came to light, people took to the streets. Thousands of people took to the streets and marched in front of the school, shouting slogans and protesting. After this, protests were seen everywhere from the railway station to the bus stand. People sat on the tracks at the railway station due to which the railway track was jammed for hours.

What steps did the government take?

After witnessing the protests in Badlapur, Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis ordered the Thane Police Commissioner to immediately suspend the negligent policemen. While the people were protesting, state government minister and BJP leader Girish Mahajan came to meet the people and assured strict action. He said that SIT was formed in this case. Deputy CM Fadnavis said that considering the seriousness of the case, senior IPS officer Aarti Singh has been appointed.
