The Supreme Court on Friday took action against the recovery agent company for not returning the vehicle despite paying off the entire loan at once. The court directed the West Bengal government to take action against the recovery agent company and file a charge sheet within two months. Also, compensation has been ordered to the victim vehicle owner.

A Supreme Court bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice Ujjwal Bhuiyan directed to pay compensation to Debashish Bosu Roy Chaudhary, the owner of the victim vehicle. The Supreme Court said that an FIR was lodged against recovery agent firm M/s City Investigation and Detective for failing to return the vehicle in proper condition. And the Commissioner of Police of the concerned area was directed to ensure that the July 5 FIR is investigated.
BOI instructed to recover the amount from the recovery agent
Last year, the FIR was registered under sections 406, 420 and 471 of the IPC at the Sodepur police station in West Bengal. The Supreme Court said any delay should be taken to its logical conclusion and the chargesheet should be filed within two months. Remember that the recovery agent firm later returned the vehicle, but in a damaged condition, and not only that, the chassis and engine numbers were changed.
