Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis

For the first time, the BJP has given a big reaction to the crushing defeat in Maharashtra in the Lok Sabha elections. Maharashtra BJP Legislature Leader and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis has said that we lost badly because of Ajit Pawar. Fadnavis’s statement has increased political excitement ahead of the assembly elections in Maharashtra.

What did Fadnavis say about the defeat?

In a TV conclave Devendra Fadnavis said that there were 12 Lok Sabha seats which we lost by 3 to 6 thousand votes. Looking at the difference in total votes, we got only 2 lakh votes less than Mahavikas Aghadi. Because Ajit Pawar’s votes have not been transferred to us.

Deputy CM Fadnavis further said that Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena easily transferred its votes in our favor, but we could not get the votes of Ajith’s Shiv Sena. If we had got NCP votes we would not have lost badly.

According to Fadnavis, BJP people were not comfortable with Ajit Pawar’s alliance, but now the situation has improved. Everyone knows that coalition is necessary and we will work together in the future.

BJP targeted Ajit Pawar for the first time

This is the first time since the NDA’s crushing defeat in the Lok Sabha elections that a senior BJP leader has blamed Ajit Pawar and his party for the defeat. Before this, the small-scale leaders were definitely targeting Ajith in a quiet tone.

However, after the Lok Sabha elections, an RSS-affiliated magazine organizer targeted Ajith. The organizer wrote that if Ajith had not been taken, the loss would have been less. The magazine also targeted the leaders who brought Ajith into the NDA.

In Maharashtra, the Mahayutti has lost 17 seats

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP-led grand alliance was limited to 17 seats in Maharashtra. There are total 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra. Out of 17, BJP has 9 seats, Shiv Sena 7 and NCP 1.

BJP’s defeat has worst strike rate. BJP could win only 9 seats after contesting 28 seats. Similarly, Shiv Sena (Shinde) managed to contest 15 seats and won 7 seats, while NCP (Ajit) had 4 seats and won one.

India Alliance won 30 seats in Maharashtra. Congress won maximum 13 seats, Shiv Sena (Thackeray) 9 and NCP (Sharad) 8 seats.
