Team India has been announced for the T20 series against Bangladesh. There are many new faces in the squad, one of which is the name of a player who was left out of Team India for the first time in just 48 hours. We are talking about Nitish Reddy who got a place in Team India for the tour of Zimbabwe for the first time based on his performance in IPL. But, due to injury, he had to drop out of Team India within 2 days. Now all-rounder Nitish Reddy has been selected for the second time in Team India for the T20 series against Bangladesh.
Selection for the T20I series against Bangladesh made it clear that Nitish Reddy’s dream of making his debut for Team India on the tour of Zimbabwe remained unfulfilled, now it may come true in this series. India is scheduled to play a 3 T20 series against Bangladesh, which will begin on October 6 and last until October 12.
Why was Nitish Reddy selected?
Now the question is why Nitish Reddy was selected in Team India? So the main reason for his selection, first for the Zimbabwe tour or now for the T20 series against Bangladesh, is his performance in the IPL as an all-rounder. Using that as his yardstick, the selectors have bet on him. Obviously, Nitish Reddy will be under pressure to prove himself with his performance if he gets a chance to debut in such a situation.
Experience from first class to T20, see record
Nitish Reddy not only has the ability to do wonders with the ball and bat, apart from this he also has mastery in hitting sixes. 21-year-old Nitish Kumar Reddy plays domestic cricket for Andhra Pradesh. While in IPL he is part of Sunrisers Hyderabad. He was seen playing for the India B team in the recently concluded Duleep Trophy.
Nitish Reddy, who made his first-class debut in 2020, has scored 627 runs and taken 54 wickets in 20 matches played so far. His List A and T20 debut took place in the year 2021. In domestic T20, Nitish Reddy has so far scored 395 runs apart from taking 3 wickets in 20 matches. Of these, he scored 303 runs in 13 matches played in IPL 2024, hitting more sixes than fours.
