If a VIP wants to get security in Punjab, now he has to pay the price. Now you will not get free security. Yes, Punjab Police has prepared a draft in this matter which has been presented before the High Court. According to the draft given by the Punjab Police in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, those whose income is less than Rs 3 lakh will not have to pay any money. Apart from this, any key witness in the case will also be given free security.

If people want personal protection from the police, they have to pay for it. Police have said that more than 900 people have received police protection in the state. These are grouped into three categories. Politicians come first, celebrities second and people from religious and social institutions third. According to the new draft, those who have been granted protection will be reviewed every three months to see if they need protection or not. Based on that further strategy will be made. That is, after every 3 months it will be seen whether the security is provided or not. The new draft may come into effect from July.

After the High Court’s stricture, the Punjab government has prepared a draft of the Standard Operating Procedure for police protection and presented it before the court. The special thing about this is that the person who is threatened will be given free protection. Those whose income is more than Rs 3 lakh will be charged around Rs 1.5 lakh per employee. The draft will also apply to religious and social leaders. If a celebrity wants security, he has to pay for it. However, senior government officials, ministers, legislators, judges, recognized political parties are exempted from this. According to the rules, the police has made a provision to recover the cost of security from a single person. This expenditure will be incurred in the Punjab Police Department itself.

Only 39 people are paying

According to the information given by the Punjab Police in the High Court, only 39 people are making the payment. The police have said that 900 people have been given security in Punjab. The remaining expenses are borne by the police department itself.

Security is a big issue in Punjab

Security has been a major issue in Punjab since its inception. After forming the government in Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party reduced the security of many political and religious leaders. The government’s contention was that police personnel would not be deployed without reason. The Punjab government wanted to end the VIP culture. These personnel will be sent to the police station. Opposition leaders also questioned the government over the security cuts.
