Amidst the Haryana assembly elections, country’s wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat have started their political journey. Both star wrestlers have joined Congress. Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat first reached to meet Congress Party President Mallikarjun Kharge, after which both reached the Congress headquarters and joined the party.
Pictures of Olympic history makers Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat along with Congress Party president Mallikarjun Kharge have surfaced, during which party general secretary KC Venugopal was also present.
On this occasion, party president Mallikarjun Khadge posted on social media handle X and said, Chak de India, Chak de Haryana! 10 On Rajaji Marg, met our talented champions Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia who made India proud in the world, we are proud of you both.

Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat took to the streets of Delhi against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the then head of the Indian Wrestling Federation of BJP. Brijbhushan Sharan Singh was accused of sexual harassment. Sakshi Malik was also involved in this movement. On the occasion of Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat joining politics, Sakshi Malik said, joining a political party is their personal choice, our movement, fight for women should not be given a wrong impression. He also said that the agitation is going on from my side. I also got an offer, that my fight will continue until the Federation comes clean and the exploitation of women stops.

Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik hit the streets in the year 2023 against the then Bharatiya Kusti Maha Sangh chief Brijbhushan Sharan Singh of the BJP. Both of them protested on the streets of Delhi against the sexual harassment allegations leveled against Brij Bhushan, during which these wrestlers also got the support of Congress, after which these two wrestlers have now joined the Congress party.
