The Kanpur Test between India and Bangladesh finally saw cricket action on the fourth day after more than two-and-a-half days of rain. After bowling Bangladesh out early, captain Rohit Sharma and Yashaswi Jaiswal leveled the scores with explosive batting. Amidst all this, there was a chance that scared Team India and the fans. Misunderstanding of runs between Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant cost Team India a lot but the Bangladeshi players could not capitalize on it and Virat Kohli got a lease of life.

The fans’ wait came to an end on the fourth day of the match on Monday September 30 at the Green Park Stadium and Team India did not disappoint them. After Bangladesh’s first innings ended in 233 runs, Rohit and Yashaswi started aggressive batting from the first over. Seeing the possibility of this match going to a draw, Team India adopted a fast batting style to win and it paid off. Rohit and Yashaswi gave a quick start, followed by Shubman Gill too.

Virat survived being run out

After the dismissal of these three, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant were at the crease. Both also decided to bat in the same style but before that a big incident was avoided. Kohli played the ball lightly from fast bowler Khaled Ahmed and came out of the crease to take the run. Rishabh Pant also ran from the other side but seeing Ahmed going towards the ball, Pant refused and Kohli was shocked. Ahmed catches the ball and Kohli stops there, believing himself to be run out.

Now it looked like Kohli would be run out as he was out of the crease but Ahmed missed this easy chance. Picking up the ball, he made an underarm throw but could not hit the stumps. Kohli too returned to the crease immediately and heaved a sigh of relief. But he immediately turned around and expressed his displeasure with Pant through his eyes and hand gestures. Pant also accepted his mistake and immediately hugged Kohli and both started laughing. At that time Kohli scored only 2 runs.

Got life again

Even though Pant himself bounced back after being dismissed, Kohli held firm and got a lease of life again. This time, he took a ball from Taijul Ismal and hit a brilliant six over long off, but while trying to play the same shot again on the second ball, he missed completely. Bangladeshi wicketkeeper Liton Das missed the chance to stump him. At that time, Kohli had scored only 34 runs. However, Kohli did not last long after this and missed out on a half-century. He was dismissed for 47 runs.
