Veterans will protect nursing workers in UP hospitals, the government issued these orders

Strict arrangements have been made for the security of paramedical staff in hospitals and medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh Government has also issued a guideline in this regard. A provision has been made that ex-servicemen will be appointed to protect the staff in the hospitals. In this regard, Uttar Pradesh government has also sent guidelines to all government medical institutions in the state except KGMU Lucknow, UPUMS Saifai and Etawah.

In this order, Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh has referred to Article 21 of the Constitution and said that it is the duty of the state to protect the citizens of the country and give them the right to lead a dignified life. Along with this, he has also expressed concern about the daily attacks on nursing staff and paramedical staff in hospitals. They have made some provisions to prevent violent incidents with health workers. It has been said that first of all, a notice should be displayed in the hospital, mentioning the punishment for any kind of violent incident against the health workers with the provisions of the Indian Penal Code.

Security committees will be formed in hospitals

Along with this, a hospital safety committee should be formed in every hospital. The committee will formulate a security strategy from time to time. The chief secretary has asked to designate restricted areas in hospitals for patients and their families. Along with this, he has said that patients should not be admitted to any hospital without a pass. He said that during the night doctors or nursing staff usually have to move from one block to another block and then to the third block. Security personnel should be deployed with them during this movement. Similarly, there should be constant security patrols throughout the hospital premises.

In his order, he has also given guidelines for lighting system, CCTV, police post etc. inside the hospital. Along with this, he has also ordered police verification of contract workers posted in hospitals. He has clearly said in his order that ex-servicemen should be deployed for security in hospitals. As such cases keep coming up, the Chief Secretary has said in his order that violence-prone places like emergency and ICU wards should be identified and proper arrangements should be made so that no one can enter with weapons. Apart from this there should be a security check system at all the entrances of the hospital.
