Village women stopped the DM’s car
In Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur, rural women stopped the DM’s car. After stopping the car, he presented his problem before the District Magistrate. He said that he was very disturbed by the continuous erosion of river Ganga. The rural women appealed to the District Magistrate to save their homes. The DM also understood the plight of the women victims and got down from the car and listened to them.
Due to incessant rains in the hilly areas, the water level of river Ganga in Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur district reached a dangerous level, although the water level has started receding gradually, the river banks are still inundated due to erosion caused by the strong flow of the Ganges. . Villagers are fearing for their homes. They are beginning to fear that the houses they have built with so much effort might sink into the Ganges.
Appeal to protect the house from erosion
Therefore, a dozen women of Bijar Kala village in Sadar tehsil approached the DM to save their houses from erosion and make arrangements for those whose houses and land were submerged. They intercepted his caravan and appealed to him for help there. When the vehicle of District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan left the office, the village women affected by the erosion of river Ganga stopped the vehicle at the collector’s office premises. District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan got down from the car and heard the problems of the rural women and assured to solve them at the earliest.
Trouble due to rise in Ganga river water
Village women said that the rising waters of the Ganga River are causing erosion near their homes. Due to which they are living in the shadow of fear every day. For the past several days such cases are coming to light that entire buildings are being washed away like chaff against the raging nature of the rivers. The villagers fear that if the house they built so hard is gone, where will they live and not only their house but their own lives are in danger.
