Water flooded the medical college

You may have seen many bridges built over rivers and canals, but you would hardly have seen such a bridge in any college, that too for the study of medical students. For the past 15 days, the college administration has constructed a bridge at the Government Homeopathic Medical College in Gazipur, Uttar Pradesh, which students and teachers of the college climb every day to cross the waterlogged college. The college which is about 11 bigha and currently 8 bigha is completely flooded. The college administration has turned the students’ study benches into bridges so that they can cross it. This is how teachers and students come and go.

In 1982, the Government of Uttar Pradesh established a Government Homoeopathic Medical College in the Rauza area of Gazipur to reward students who became doctors through homeopathy. Every year, around 63 students are admitted to this college to study MBBS after qualifying through NEET. At present about 200 students are studying.

The college is spread over 11 bighas

At present, the Government Homoeopathic Medical College is spread over about 11 bighas with classrooms for students, offices, administrative buildings as well as running a hospital. Currently the entire college campus is surrounded by rainwater and there is three to four feet of water in the entire college campus. Because of this, along with the students’ studies, the administrative work of the college is also getting affected. In such a situation, considering these problems, the new principal Dr.Rajendrasingh made a bridge from the benches to make the tables arranged in the classes for the students to reach the college and with the help of this bridge the students were brought to the college. Students and college go to school every day.

Student exams are going on

Talking about the students of the college, the exams of the students are currently going on but due to the water inundation in the college, the exams of all the students are being conducted in the polytechnic college which is a little far from here. At the same time, due to flooding of the students’ classrooms, the building built for the library was built on top of their classroom roofs. Classes are being conducted in it.

The principal of the college, Dr. Rajendra Singh, said that he had come to the college a few days ago and this problem had come to light only after a few days of his arrival. He attributed the problem to the low land of the college as well as the choking of all the drains and drains around the college. Also, during the doubling work of the railway track by the railway yesterday, the pipe which was previously laid under the railway track for drainage is the main reason for being damaged or broken. Due to which the water is not drained and the college premises have been flooded for the last one month.

This problem has been going on for 8-9 years

The district administration has installed two pumps for drainage, while the college administration has also installed one pump. Due to which water has come in few days. In such a situation, if there is no rain for the next 15 days, water is expected to flow from the college campus and if it rains, this problem may increase.

A homeopathic hospital is also being run within the college premises, where earlier OPD for 400 patients was conducted. Due to 3 to 4 feet of water in the hospital premises, the OPD has now also been shifted and is being operated in a tent at the main gate of the college. Hospital RMO a. P Singh said that this problem is occurring since last one month. Although this problem has been around for 8-9 years but no steps are being taken by the administration to solve this problem permanently.
