Rajkumar Pal, a resident of Karampur village in Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh, is soon going to make the district famous in Paris. After the death of his father at the age of 8, Rajkumar started learning the ins and outs of hockey at the Meghbaran Singh Hockey Stadium in the village. Today, after the Asia Cup and the World Cup, he has been selected for the Paris Olympics. After the selection news, there was a wave of happiness in his village and the stadium administration. Aniket Singh, director of Karampur Stadium, has shared information about this. Let us tell you that Rajkumar Pal also has two brothers, one of whom is in the Army and the other is in the Railways. All three brothers are experienced hockey players and the remaining two brothers got jobs only in sports quota.
Former MP and former director of Meghbaran Singh Hockey Stadium Radhe Mohan Singh said that when Rajkumar Pal was about 8 years old. His father was a truck driver in the beginning. After their father’s death, their mother Manraji Devi raised the three brothers. His elder brother Jokhan is in Army and another brother Raju is in Railways. Late Thakur Tej Bahadur Singh took everyone to the stadium and started teaching them the finer points of hockey. The three brothers in turn worked for their family and farm after the game. Gradually this streak continued and after learning the ins and outs of hockey, he started playing the national game as well.
Meghbaran Singh Hockey Stadium Director Aniket Singh said that the stadium was established in 1983 by late Tej Bahadur Singh. Their aim was to provide employment to the poor youth of the village and improve their lives. The result of his dreams is before us. The stadium has given 14 international players to the Indian hockey team. Hundreds of players have got jobs in various fields. He dedicated his entire life for the upliftment of sportsmen and eradication of poverty. His contribution and his entire life was devoted to grooming the hockey nursery.
The idea of ​​running a hockey academy in a small village like Karampur was conceived by late. Thakur came to Tej Bahadur Singh and after he kept away from the limelight of the world he watched and tested the players in every youth of the village. Used to improve them in their stadium. Due to which today more than 400 players of this stadium are working in various government jobs. Uttam Singh has also been a promising player at this stadium who has also been a part of the Junior World Cup.
