Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi.
Facing exile from power for three-and-a-half decades in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress is reeling after its victory in the Lok Sabha elections. Congress now plans to completely change the UP organization. Congress has planned to replace all its district and city presidents, who are not working in active mode. Congress is preparing to replace inactive leaders and place dynamic leaders in the organization. The Congress is already working on a strategy to mobilize the organization for the 2027 assembly elections.
Six national secretaries who are close to Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi have been given the charge of Uttar Pradesh again. After the posting of the state secretary, a meeting of six secretaries was held in Delhi with Congress in-charge Avinash Pandey and state president Ajay Rai. Meanwhile, orders have also been given to improve the organization of the party. A meeting of UP Congress leaders is to be held in Delhi once again on Saturday. In this meeting, the script of ‘overhauling’ in the UP organization will be written along with the by-elections.
Rahul Gandhi is busy reviving the party.
Congress has not come to power in UP since 1989. In 2014, Congress had two seats while in 2019, it had only one Lok Sabha seat in its account. This time Congress has succeeded in winning six seats after contesting on 17 seats. Apart from Amethi, Rae Bareli, there are also Allahabad, Sitapur and Saharanpur seats, where the Congress won after 40 years. Congress is looking for a big chance for itself in 2027 assembly elections due to alliance with SP and then the pro-Congress tilt of Muslim and Dalit voters. In such a situation, Rahul Gandhi is active in UP and is trying to revive the party.
The Congress has recently reassigned the charge of UP to six national secretaries. Dheeraj Gurjar, Rajesh Tiwari, Taukeer Alam, Pradeep Narwal, Neelanshu Chaturvedi and Satyanarayan Patel have been appointed as secretaries in UP. Since Priyanka Gandhi was in charge of Uttar Pradesh, six leaders have been in charge. Three days ago, all the secretaries of UP had a meeting with the top leadership in Delhi. Organization was discussed and it was decided that the organization of districts should be reviewed. District and city presidents who are currently not working diligently should be identified and replaced by someone else.
The list can be declared in 10 to 15 days
UP Congress leaders have been called to Delhi again. A meeting of leaders belonging to the UP organization, including Avinash Pandey, Ajay Rai and Anil Yadav, is scheduled for Saturday at 4 pm in Delhi. It is believed that the meeting will discuss the change in the UP organization along with brainstorming on the by-election strategy. A Congress source said that full preparations have been made for the change in the UP organization. A list of district and city presidents of the state to be removed has also been prepared. The names of the new District President and City President have also been decided on those posts.
A meeting to be held in Delhi on Saturday will discuss changes in the UP organization with the Congress leadership. After this, the list of district and city presidents may be announced again in next 10 to 15 days. After the district and city presidents are decided, preparations are underway to include some more people in the regional committee. Consideration is being given to changing the responsibilities of those already involved in the UP Congress organization.
Congress made a strategy of making a minority president
Congress minority state president Shahnawaz Alam has been made the national secretary and given the charge of Bihar. Because of this, a new minority president has also to be appointed in UP. It is believed that this time Congress may try to make three to four presidents instead of one leader. Congress has divided UP into four parts in terms of its organization. Congress is believed to have made a strategy of making a minority president on this formula as well.
The Uttar Pradesh Congress wants to complete this process before the assembly by-elections. Although the leadership has clarified that there may be changes, it should not affect the by-election preparations. The Congress wants to complete the changes in the UP organization at the earliest. Now it remains to be seen whose President the Congress will remove and who will replace him.
