After the results of the Lok Sabha elections, all eyes are now on the by-elections to be held in 10 seats of the UP Assembly. For this, political parties have intensified preparations. Tension is going on between SP and Congress regarding Phulpur seat. In fact, Congress is preparing to contest elections on behalf of India Alliance from Phulpur seat in Prayagraj. Congress is calling this seat as its traditional seat.
The Congress party held an organizational meeting in Phulpur area on Saturday to claim the Phulpur seat. In this meeting, the party leaders demanded to give Phulpur seat to Congress. State General Secretary and Organization Minister Anil Yadav, who was present at the meeting, said that he would inform the party high command about the sentiments of the workers and leaders.
Phulpur is the traditional seat of the Congress
He said that he would request the party high command that the Congress party itself contests from the Phulpur seat in the India Alliance, respecting the sentiments of the workers. Congress is calling Phulpur seat as Nehru’s traditional seat, at the same time, state general secretary Mukund Tiwari says that Congress party organization in Phulpur is strong. Phulpur has been a traditional seat of the Congress.
Tiwari said that this seat is the seat of Pandit Nehruji. We believe that India Alliance Congress candidate will enter the fray here. BJP’s defeat is certain when we fight from here. Tiwari further said that the decision of who will be the candidate from here has been left to the High Command. They will decide from here on who will fight and who won’t. But we want Congress to contest by-election from Phulpur seat.
By-elections will be held on these 10 seats of UP
The 10 seats in Uttar Pradesh to be held by by-election include Phulpur, Kher, Ghaziabad, Mazwan, Mirapur, Milkipur, Karhal, Katehri, Kundarki and Sisamau. This time MLAs from all 9 seats except Sismau have won the Lok Sabha elections and become MPs, so these seats are vacant and by-elections are to be held on them. Along with this, this seat has fallen vacant due to cancellation of membership of SP MLA Irfan Solanki in a criminal case. The dates for the by-polls are yet to be announced but all political parties are on their toes.
