A sensational case of molestation of a woman has come to light in Uttar Pradesh’s Siddharthnagar. Here a woman resident of Gonhattal in Bansi Kotwali area was raped in an ambulance. It is also alleged that the ambulance personnel removed the oxygen from her husband and dumped him near the colony. Due to the brutality of the ambulance staff, the victim’s husband died during treatment at Gorakhpur Medical College.
The incident is said to have taken place on the night of August 30. Regarding the incident, the victim said that her husband Harish was unwell for several days. She went to Basti Medical College regarding this. As his health deteriorated here, he was referred to Lucknow. Due to lack of vacant seats in Lucknow Medical College, she admitted her husband to Imperia Neuroscience Multi Specialty Hospital in Indira Nagar for his treatment.
The woman was going home in a private ambulance
Due to overcharge here, after two days of treatment, she requested her husband to be taken out and accompanied him to her home in Siddharthnagar’s Gohtal village in a private ambulance provided by the hospital. The victim said that after walking some distance on the road, the ambulance driver forced her to sit in the front seat of the ambulance and after informing her about the police checking, he made her sit in the front seat. The woman said that the ambulance driver and his companion molested her on the way. When the woman protested and tried to shout, the men dumped her husband in a deserted area before covering a distance of about 150 km to reach the settlement, injuring her ailing husband and depriving him of oxygen. His health deteriorated.
The victim accused the police
The woman said she and her brother called 112 and reported the incident to the police. Seeing her husband’s bad condition, the police called an ambulance and sent her to Basti Medical College from where she was referred to Gorakhpur Medical College and her husband died at Gorakhpur Medical College. The woman said that the police present in the colony did not make any attempt to arrest the ambulance personnel. After the completion of her husband’s last rites, the woman came to lodge a complaint at Gazipur police station in Lucknow.
The brother was in the car with the woman
In this case, the victim’s brother Anup said that he was returning home from Lucknow in a private ambulance. On the way, the ambulance driver and his colleague started molesting his sister. He could not understand the actual situation as the cabin was closed. After a long time when he realized the situation, he too started shouting, but the ambulance personnel did not stop and before the settlement could be reached, the ambulance stopped near the camp and dropped his sister, locked her in the front seat and left. On the way he threw his brother-in-law and sister aside and took away all their belongings and ornaments. Later they also pushed him from the ambulance and ran away.
Death of woman’s husband
Anup said that when the accident happened to him, he was so distraught that he could not tell the whole story to the police and kept running to treat his brother-in-law, who died at Gorakhpur BRD College. . Anup said that the day after the incident, he went to the Basti Cantonment police station but was chased from there and told to lodge a complaint in Lucknow. He went to Lucknow and lodged a complaint at Ghazipur police station. An ambulance worker was detained by the police but Anup said he was released. Anoop and his aggrieved sister are now demanding justice for their ill-treatment and the death of their husband.
