An animal hospital was built for the care and treatment of animals in Revatipur block of Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh. A new building was constructed three years ago as the old building fell into disrepair. But the hospital is still being run in the old building. A new building of the Government Veterinary Hospital was constructed at a cost of 48 lakhs.
The building has been locked since its construction. A year and a half ago, the technical team handed over the building to the animal husbandry department after inspecting it. While the veterinary hospital is being run in the dilapidated building, the new building is locked.
Know what is the matter?
A veterinary hospital is run in Revatipur block of Ghazipur district for good care and treatment of animals. In the year 2019, the animal husbandry department sent a proposal to the government to construct a new building as the building was dilapidated. The government sanctioned Rs 48 lakh on the proposal to construct a new building. In the next one and a half to two years, the new building of animal husbandry department will be ready. After this, officials inspected the constructed building while conducting departmental proceedings. After inspection if everything was as per standard then the house was handed over to animal husbandry department.
Padlock for three years
Although the animal husbandry department will get a new building in the year 2021, the animal husbandry department is still functioning in an old and dilapidated building. The new building has been locked for the past three years. In such a situation, many serious questions are being raised. The department has its own newly constructed building then why is the hospital being run in the old building.
On the other hand, the government veterinary clinic is being run in a somewhat old and dilapidated building. Employees and doctors are risking their lives working in the dilapidated building. There is no telling when the dilapidated building of the veterinary hospital will be demolished. If this happens not only the workers but also the animals may die.
What did the Chief Veterinary Officer say?
Chief Veterinary Officer Dr. A. No. Shahi said that if the newly built government animal hospital has been handed over to the department then why is it not being used. For this, it will be discussed with the departmental officials, only after that it will be appropriate to say something. He said, if the new building is handed over to the department, then I will try to run the government veterinary hospital in the new building itself.
