A serious accident was averted in Mumbai today. Less than a minute after the Indigo plane landed at the Mumbai airport, an Air India plane began taking off from the same runway. Authorities said on Sunday that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC) is investigating the matter. He said the DGCA has suspended the air traffic controller (ATC) who was on duty at the time of Saturday’s incident, while IndiGo has launched an investigation into the matter.

The DGAC ordered an investigation

A video of a plane landing and another taking off on the same runway was shared on social media. A DGCA official has said that we are investigating and the ATCO involved in the incident has already been removed from service. Let us tell you that Mumbai airport operates on a single runway, which has two intersecting runways. Mumbai Airport has approximately 46 arrivals and departures per hour on one runway, RW27.

Indigo said this

Indigo has said in the statement that on June 8, the ATC cleared Indigo flight 6E 6053 from Indore to land at Mumbai airport. The pilot in charge continued the approach and landing and followed ATC instructions. An Airports Authority of India (AAI) source said that as per rules, departing planes have to cross the end of the runway or turn around, only after which the ATC could issue landing clearance to incoming planes. . Apparently, these rules were not followed in this case.
