The film’s director Rahi Anil Barve waited for four monsoons to make the village’s rains real, which took 6 years to shoot. The actor had to maintain extra weight in ‘Tumbaad’, so Soham gained 18 kg during these 6 years. It is said that ‘Tumbaad’ was shot in a place where no one has ever been in 100 years. Along with the actor, Soham is also the producer of this film. In 2008, Nawazuddin Siddiqui was offered the role of the lead actor in the film, but the film was shelved due to financial constraints.

In a conversation with Llantop, Soham said that it took 6 years to shoot the first part of the film. The film did not make decent money, due to which it was re-released. In its sequel, the story of ‘Tumbaad’ will be based on Vinayak’s son Pandurang. On the first day of its re-release, the film earned Rs 1.65 crore at the box office, which is 2.5 times more than the film’s opening day earnings in 2018. When released in 2018, the film earned Rs 65 lakh on the first day. Not only this, its earnings are more than the collection of Kareena Kapoor’s ‘The Buckingham Murders’. Released on September 13, ‘The Buckingham Murders’ has earned Rs 1.25 crore on its first day of release.
