Travelling on the Yamuna Expressway is getting expensive

Now vehicles will have to spend more money than before to speed up the Yamuna Expressway. Because the toll tax has been increased again. This decision was taken by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority in its 82nd meeting. The new rates will be applicable from October 1. Let us tell you that Yamuna Expressway is also known as Taj Expressway. In India, there are a total of 24 expressways passing through different states and drivers have to pay toll on each of them. One of the most popular and busiest expressways is the Yamuna Expressway from Noida to Agra. So, in today’s story, we will know how much has changed in the toll tax of this expressway since it came into operation.

Traveling has become very expensive

According to media reports, around 35,000 vehicles use this highway every day, while on weekends this figure reaches 50,000. This means, in simple terms, that it will have a direct impact on these people. At the recent meeting, it was decided to increase the tolls on the highway by 4%. Following this further increase, the rates for two-wheelers will increase from Rs 1.30 per kilometre to Rs 1.50.

At the same time, the toll rates for jeeps and cars will be increased from Rs 2.70 per kilometre to Rs 2.95. The toll rate for light commercial vehicles has been increased from Rs 4.35 to Rs 4.70 per kilometre. Similarly, the toll rates for buses and trucks will be increased from Rs 8.95 per kilometre to Rs 9.35. The rates for heavy construction vehicles have been increased from Rs 12.90 to Rs 13.35 per kilometre and for oversized vehicles the rates have been increased from Rs 17.60 to Rs 18.10 per kilometre.

After the implementation of the new rates, the toll charge for travelling by car from Greater Noida to Agra will increase from Rs 270 to Rs 295. Similarly, for buses this amount will increase from Rs 895 to Rs 935. This toll for oversized vehicles will increase from Rs 1,760 to Rs 1,835.

The toll tax has increased many times so far

This is not the first increase in toll rates on the Yamuna Expressway. When the expressway started operating in 2012, the toll rate for cars was Rs 2.10 per kilometre, while for buses and trucks the rate was Rs 6.60 per kilometre. For heavy construction vehicles this rate was Rs 10.10 per kilometre. This was followed by the first increase in toll rates in 2014, where the rates for cars were increased from Rs 2.10 to Rs 2.50 per kilometre. This rate was increased from Rs 6.60 to Rs 7.50 per kilometre for buses and trucks and from Rs 10.10 to Rs 12.05 per kilometre for heavy vehicles.

Following this, the toll rates were again increased in 2022. The toll rate for cars was increased from Rs 2.50 to Rs 2.65 per kilometre, while for buses and trucks the rate was increased from Rs 7.50 to Rs 8.45 per kilometre. For heavy construction vehicles, this rate was increased from Rs 12.05 to Rs 12.90 and for oversized vehicles, this rate was increased from Rs 15.55 to Rs 18.80 per kilometre.

will affect the pocket

Let us tell you that after this new increase, those travelling on the Yamuna Expressway will have to spend more money. This increase may put an additional financial burden on the passengers, especially those who use the route on a daily basis. However, the purpose of this increase in toll rates is to maintain the maintenance and safety of the expressway, so that passengers can experience a comfortable and safe journey.
