Female wrestler Vinesh Phogat has joined the Congress party on Friday. At the same time, former president of the Indian Wrestling Federation and BJP MP Brijbhushan Sharan Singh’s statement on joining the Congress has surfaced. He said that it has been proved true that the agitation of women wrestlers against him was sponsored by the Congress.
The former BJP MP made the remarks during a smartphone distribution program at a private school in Dumariadih, Gonda. He said, ‘When women wrestlers accused me. Then I said that this is a Congress conspiracy. Haryana’s big leaders Dipendra Hooda and Bhupendra Singh Hooda are plotting against us.
‘Even today I stand by the same thing’
Brijbhushan Sharan Singh said, ‘Whatever I said on the first day, I stand by it today and the whole country is saying the same today. Now I don’t need to say more about this. He said that he would not say more on the matter otherwise the news would reach Haryana immediately. The former MP said, ‘At this time the whole country is waiting for Brijbhushan Sharan Singh to say something on this issue.’ Along with this, he said that if any BJP candidate contests in Haryana, he will defeat Vinesh Phogat.
Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia join hands with Congress
Phogat had resigned from the Indian Railways job due to personal reasons before the Haryana assembly elections. And joined Congress on Friday. Apart from Phogat, former Olympian Bajrang Punia has also joined the Congress. The Congress has welcomed Rahul Gandhi to the party by sharing a picture of Phogat and Punia with him on its official ‘X’ handle.
At the same time, after joining the Congress, Phogat said, ‘We know who we are in bad times, when we were being dragged on the streets, all the opposition parties supported us except the BJP.’ She said she was proud to be associated with an ideology that was ready to fight for its rights from the streets to the parliament. Phogat had accused former MP Brijbhushan Sharan Singh of sexual harassment.
I was also conspired with in 1996 – Brijbhushan Singh
Singh, who has been the president of the Indian Wrestling Association, said, ‘A conspiracy was hatched against me in 1996 as well. At that time my wife Ketaki Singh had become an MP. In those days I was in Tihar Jail under conspiracy. After this also in 2023 a conspiracy was formed with me and my younger son Karan Bhushan Singh became MP in my place. In the year 1996, the former MP was arrested under the TADA Act in a criminal case in Mumbai. He was then lodged in Tihar Jail. In his place, the BJP nominated his wife Ketaki Singh as a candidate from Gonda in the Lok Sabha elections and she was elected.

This time in the Lok Sabha elections, after allegations of women wrestlers, BJP canceled the ticket of Brijbhushan Sharan Singh from Kaiserganj. In his place, BJP fielded his son Karan Bhushan Singh as its candidate. Brij Bhushan Singh claimed, ‘Before this incident no one was taking selfies with me. Now after this incident heroes also take selfies, heroines also take selfies, saints also take selfies.
