Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia on Thursday hit out at the BJP over the Supreme Court’s comments on ED custody. He said that the Bharatiya Janata Party has violated the rights given to the common man in the constitution in a democracy. According to him, ED arrests people who don’t donate to BJP and puts them in jail.
The former Excise Minister of Delhi has attacked the BJP over that remark of the Supreme Court. In which the Supreme Court asked questions to the ED during the hearing of a case. The court asked the ED how long they can keep a person in jail without framing charges. At the same time, AAP has cornered BJP on this.
ED will impose sections on terrorism and drug mafia
Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia attacked BJP and ED through a post on his X. He said, ‘These questions are being asked not only from the ED but also from the BJP.’ Sisodia wrote that the ruling BJP has violated democracy and the rights of the common man enshrined in the Constitution.
He said that anyone who calls BJP wrong is arrested. Whoever defeats them in elections, whoever doesn’t donate to them… they get arrested by ED and put in jail. The AAP leader said that whoever the ED arrests, they will be booked under sections related to terrorism and drug mafia. Therefore, bail may not be easily obtained.
The Supreme Court reprimanded the ED
The Supreme Court’s comment on the ED was made on Wednesday during the bail hearing of Congress leader and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s former deputy secretary Soumya Chaurasia. The court granted interim bail to Soumya Chaurasia in the pending money laundering case against her and also reprimanded the ED.

Meanwhile, the court expressed displeasure over the low conviction rate and the ED keeping the accused in jail without framing charges. The Supreme Court said how long can you keep someone in jail without framing charges? The ED was also asked whether it could keep the accused in jail for years.
