A three-storey building collapsed in Lucknow
Eight people were killed and many injured after a building collapsed in Transport Nagar in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow on Saturday evening. On receiving information about the accident, more than 100 teams of NDRF and SDRF rushed to the spot and pulled out the people trapped under the debris. There was so much debris at the accident site that it was very difficult to get people out of it. The teams that reached the spot cut the wall of the adjacent building to extricate the people trapped under the debris and then pulled out the people. The rescue operation of this accident continued throughout the night.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the incident and wished the injured a speedy recovery. At the same time, the family members of the accident victims are in a bad condition and are crying. There are several reasons behind the sudden collapse of the building built in 2016, which are being investigated. Was there any negligence while constructing the building? Or the material used while making it was not suitable?
These can be the main reasons for building collapse
- The use of poor quality materials in construction is also said to be the biggest reason for the collapse of buildings.
- Lack of proper engineering during the construction of the building is also considered as a major reason.
- The Transport Nagar area has dilapidated roads all around, there was also a dirt road around the building, which was always waterlogged. Weakening of foundations due to water can also be a major cause.
- Transport Hundreds of trucks ply the city area daily. Trucks come and go inside the large industrial buildings present here. According to the injured, they heard a very loud noise before the building collapsed and it was probably the impact of a truck and a truck was also present at the time of the accident, which fell under the building.
- According to the LDA, the building was constructed after the approval of the map, so it is not illegal. There was no basement in the building, no earthquake, no excavation going on, no construction going on nearby. Even after that, the collapse of the building raises doubts.
- According to local people, where this building is located, there was a deep pit, which was often filled with water. The building was built with earth and leveled, but the foundation may have weakened during construction due to long standing waterlogging.
- According to people, a few days ago a truck hit a pillar inside the building, after which cracks appeared on the nearby walls. The popularity continued to weaken, but it was not noticed. This can also be a major reason behind the collapse of the building.
The reasons behind this accident are indeed a subject of investigation. Who is responsible for the death of 8 people? Whose responsibility is it to relieve the grief of crying family members and their loved ones? If the pillar of this building was cracked, why was it not repaired earlier? Many such questions are bothering us after this accident. In such a situation, the matter should be seriously investigated.
