100 days have been completed in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third term, in which the government initiated projects worth Rs 15 lakh crore. During these 100 days, 3 crore houses were approved under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, of which 1 crore houses were approved for urban areas and 2 crore houses for rural areas. The government’s emphasis was on infrastructure development, where projects worth Rs 3 lakh crore were given the green light.
In the infrastructure sector, the government laid the foundation stone of the Shin-Kun-La tunnel connecting Ladakh with Himachal and approved eight projects of the National High Speed ​​Highway Corridor spread over 936 kilometres. In addition, the Wadhawan Mega Port in Wadhawan, Maharashtra, was approved at a cost of Rs 76,200 crore, which will be included among the top 10 ports in the world. Under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-4, construction/upgradation of roads and bridges in 25,000 villages was approved with central assistance of Rs 49,000 crore.
The government did this work with regard to the railways.
The government also made major strides in the area of ​​railways and air services. Eight new railway line projects were approved, while the development of the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi, new civil enclaves at Bagdogra in West Bengal and Bihta in Bihar, and construction of a new airstrip at Agatti-Minicoy were approved. Projects for the third phase of the Bangalore Metro, expansion of the Pune Metro and the Thane Integrated Ring Road Metro Rail were also approved.
Farmers got relief
The government has taken important decisions for farmers. Under the 17th Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi, Rs 20,000 crore has been sent to the accounts of 9.3 crore farmers. So far, benefits worth Rs 3 lakh crore have been given to 12 crore 33 lakh farmers. Due to the hike in MSP of Kharif crops, 12 crore farmers will benefit about Rs 2 lakh crore. In the agriculture sector, Polavaram irrigation project worth Rs 12,100 crore has been approved in Andhra Pradesh, while agricultural schemes and development projects worth Rs 3,300 crore have been initiated in Jammu and Kashmir.
Government announcement for the middle class
A major relief was also given to the middle class. There will now be no tax on income up to Rs 7 lakh, while the standard deduction has been increased to Rs 75,000. The Unified Pension Scheme was implemented, under which employees with 25 years of service will receive 50 per cent of the average basic salary as pension.
Relief was also provided to startups and small traders, such as increasing the Mudra loan limit to Rs 20 lakh and extending the credit guarantee scheme for MSMEs. In these 100 days, the government has taken many important steps to take the country forward through rapid economic reforms and infrastructure development.
