The monsoon session of Maharashtra will begin from June 27. Even before that, the much-awaited cabinet is being discussed. Who will be included in it from the three parties? Whose address will be cut and whose account will be changed? Various arguments are being given on this. According to sources, BJP leader Ganesh Naik can get a chance from Navi Mumbai. Will Narayan Rane’s son Nitesh Rane get a chance if he does not get a chance again at the Center? This is also being discussed. BJP’s Madhuri Misal, who has been an MLA from Pune three times, can be included in the cabinet. Shivendraraje Bhosale’s name is also in discussion from Satara. BJP’s Atul Bhatkhalkar from Mumbai and Rana Jagjitsingh Patil, Sambhaji Patil Nilangekar, Suresh Dhas from Marathwada are also in the forefront. The names of Sanjay Shirsat, Ashish Jaiswal and Bharat Gogavale from Shinde’s Shiv Sena are in discussion. At the same time, Sangram Jagtap and Anna Bansode are considered to be the frontrunners in Ajit Pawar’s NCP.

According to sources, in the new extension, the account of current Revenue Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patal can be changed. Tribal Development Minister Vijaykumar Gavit can also change his account. Forest and Culture Minister Mungantiwar’s account can be changed. BJP’s Ravindra Chavan, who is currently the Public Works Minister, is among the names in discussion who can be promoted. Minister Girish Mahajan can be promoted. Currently he has a Gram Vikas account.

In this regard, BJP leader Babanrao Lonikar has given an important reaction. “Given the quorum of the Modi cabinet at the center, there is scope for making 15 ministers in the state. But whether I will get a ministerial post or not, only Dev and Devendra know, what can I say, I did good work in the previous cabinet. So I hope, this will be the third and long-pending second cabinet expansion in the triple engine government”, Lonikar commented.

The cabinet will be expanded for the third time

The Shinde-Fadnavis government was formed on 30 June 2022. On 30 June, Shinde took oath as Chief Minister and Fadnavis as Deputy Chief Minister. For the first forty days, Shinde and Fadnavis were in charge. Later on 9 August, the first cabinet expansion took place, 9 ministers from Shinde’s Shiv Sena and 9 from BJP took oath. Even after this, 22 ministerial posts were vacant in Maharashtra, there are a total of 42 ministerial posts in Maharashtra, but the expansion was only of 20 ministers. Exactly one year later i.e. on 2 July, Ajit Pawar faction came to power and when the third cabinet expansion took place, 9 leaders of Ajit Pawar faction became ministers in power. And now after about a year, the third cabinet expansion can take place. Does the long-awaited Bharat Gogavale of the Shinde group get the red light in this expansion? This is also awaited.

Currently, Chief Minister Shinde has 7 accounts named General Administration, Urban Development, Transport, Social Justice, Environment, Information Technology, Information-Public Relations. While Fadnavis has 5 departments, Home, Water Resources, Law and Justice, Energy and Royal Ethics. Even after 2 years of formation of the government, these accounts have not been distributed. The monsoon session of the Maharashtra government will start from June 27. It will conclude on July 12. The interim budget for the year 2024-25 will also be presented on June 28.
