The Government of India has outlined a large manufacturing ecosystem in the country. In this order, 12 cities in 10 states will be developed as Industrial Smart Cities under the Central Government’s National Industrial Corridor Development Program (NICDP). In this regard, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave the nod on Wednesday. According to the plan, all these 12 cities will be developed around five industrial corridors.
These include Agra and Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh and Jodhpur Pali in Rajasthan. According to the Union Minister of Railways, IT and Information and Broadcasting, Ashwani Vaishnav, around 8 thousand 602 crore rupees will be invested in this project. After doing this, the government hopes that around 1.5 lakh crore rupees will be invested in these cities. Along with this, about 10 lakh direct and 30 lakh indirect jobs will also be created in these cities. According to the Union Minister, provision was made in the budget itself for the establishment of these cities.
Entrepreneurs will not have to worry about land
According to the central government’s plan, the respective state governments will be responsible for land acquisition and land-use change for these emerging industrial smart cities. Any entrepreneur who invests here will not have to face the hassle of land acquisition. These industrial cities will be settled in such a way that all these cities will become a part of the global supply chain. In fact, these cities are settling around industrial corridors.

It includes Khurpia in Uttarakhand, Rajpura in Patiala in Punjab, Agra in Uttar Pradesh and Prayagraj. Similarly, Gaya in Bihar, Dighi in Maharashtra and Jodhpur-Pali in Rajasthan will be developed on the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor. There will be four projects on Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor, Hyderabad-Bangalore Industrial Corridor, Hyderabad-Nagpur Industrial Corridor and Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor. These include Koparthi, Orvakai in Andhra Pradesh, Zaheerabad in Telangana and Palakkad in Kerala.
