Big deal from Tata Group-related company
A company associated with Tata Group will soon launch such handsets in the country, where the ability to stream audio and video directly without the Internet will be available. This technology that provides direct audio-video and other services on handsets without the Internet is called D2M. The handsets to be launched will be value for money and a US company has been collaborated on for their design and launch.
This agreement signed under the India-US partnership is a major step towards making India self-reliant and becoming the world leader in semiconductors. This agreement has been signed between Sankhya Labs of India, Free Stream Technologies, a company formed at IIT Kanpur, and Sinclair Inc. of the US. The phones to be manufactured under this agreement will be equipped with the Prithvi-3 ATSC 3.0 chipset manufactured by Sankhya Labs.
Tata Connection by Sankhya Labs
Sankhya Labs is a subsidiary of Tejas Network, whose parent company is Tata Sons. Thus, Sankhya Labs is indirectly a Tata Group company. Tejas Networks manufactures various devices used in 4G and 5G telecom in the country.

Field validation of Sankhya Labs’ device is being carried out in Bengaluru, Delhi and the US. The global market for this technology has started to grow slowly.
