Rajeev Thakur was offered a role in ‘Dinky’.
In the year 2023, three films of Shah Rukh Khan were released in cinemas. Initially ‘Pathan’ followed by ‘Jawaan’ and at the end of the year ‘Dinki’. All the three films got a lot of love from the audience. While ‘Pathan’ and ‘Jawaan’ earned Rs 1000 crore, ‘Denki’ earned Rs 470 crore. But few people know that the famous comedian was also approached for Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dinky’. The comedian was none other than Rajeev Thakur. Rajeev Thakur is also in the limelight these days for his web series ‘IC 14: The Kandahar Hijack’.
In this series of Anubhav Sinha, Rajiv is seen in the role of a terrorist. Rajeev is known for his role as Raju in Kapil’s Show. The comedian wanted to debut in films with a big project. He was also offered a role in Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani’s Dinky. But due to some things it could not work. During an interview with mid-day.com, Rajeev Thakur opened up about the offer to work with Mukesh Chhabra, Anubhav Sinha and others in Rajkumar Hirani’s film ‘Dinky’.

Rajeev Thakur has a very close relationship with casting director Mukesh Chhabra. Rajeev sought work from Chhabra several times, when it came to casting an actor for Rajkumar Hirani’s Dinky, Mukesh immediately put Rajiv Thakur’s name forward. Rajeev also got a call and was told that Rajkumar Hirani wants to meet you. Rajeev said – “For the last one and a half years, I was persuading Paaji (Mukesh Chhabra) to at least audition me. I used to say that even if you reject me, take the audition. But he always replied, ‘When I find a suitable role for you, I will give you something. So, I always thought maybe a comedy role would come and then they gave me a chance.”

Concluding his statement, Rajeev continued, “He gave me a role in Dinky. I cleared the audition and got a call that I had an appointment with Rajkumar Hirani. This was for one of three friends. I was really happy, but then I didn’t get a call again, this made me very sad, thinking that even if I get rejected, there should be at least one meeting.
After the Betterment audition and playing a terrorist in IC 814: Kandahar Hijack, Rajiv asked Mukesh Chhabra why he was chosen to play a terrorist. According to Rajeev, when he auditioned, he asked Mukesh Paji what he thought of him. He told Rajiv that he was under a lot of pressure and went to rest in his office, where he was watching reels. His eyes fell on a reel. The reel belonged to Rajiv and then he thought of it.
