Mumbai division of Central Railway has formed a separate ‘Task Force’ to ensure better experience for local daily commuters and to avoid crowding caused by intruders in AC local and first class coaches. The task force has started action against unauthorized passengers traveling in first class and AC local. A separate WhatsApp complaint number 7208819987 was announced in this campaign.

Central Railway has launched a dedicated task force from May 25 to resolve issues related to irregular travel in suburban trains. A task force of 14 employees has been formed to respond immediately to the problems of passengers through WhatsApp helpline mobile number 7208819987. Help can be sought on this mobile number.

A total of 2,979 cases of illegal travel were reported

A total of 2,979 cases of illegal travel have been caught till June 15 after the scheme was launched. Due to which a fine of Rs 10 lakh 4 thousand 985 has been collected. This proactive action has resulted in a significant reduction in passenger complaints. More than 100 cases per day. By June 15, 2024, the number of complaints decreased to only 7 cases per day. In particular, the Mumbai suburban network of Central Railway carries about 3.3 lakh passengers through 1810 local trains per day. A total of 66 AC local trains run by Central Railway carry an average of about 78,000 passengers per day.
