Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Maneka Gandhi has filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court’s Lucknow bench challenging the election of Samajwadi Party MP Ram Bhual Nishad from Sultanpur Lok Sabha constituency and seeking annulment of the election. The election petition was filed by senior advocate Prashant Singh Atal on behalf of Maneka Gandhi.

The petitioner says that there are 12 cases pending against MP Ram Bhual Nishad, but he has given information about only 8 cases in the election affidavit. Let us tell you that Maneka Gandhi lost to Ram Bhual Nishad by a margin of 43,174 votes. He filed the application at the court registry on Saturday. The court may hear the plea on July 30.

Let us tell you that Maneka Gandhi had alleged in her petition that the SP MP who won from Sultanpur had informed the Election Commission about only eight cases while hiding the cases registered against her. Former Union Minister Maneka Gandhi, after collecting details of 12 cases, filed a petition to revoke Ram Bhual Nishad’s membership of the Lok Sabha, accusing him of deliberately concealing facts.

In the petition, Maneka Gandhi claimed that Ram Bhual Nishad had not disclosed information about his criminal cases registered at Piprach and Barhalganj police stations in Gorakhpur district in the affidavit. In the petition, the High Court has been appealed to cancel the election of Ram Bhual and declare Maneka Gandhi as the elected candidate.
