Prabhas’ story has had many ups and downs, but he has bounced back each time.
A 19-year-old boy went out with his uncle for election campaigning. He gave his all in this campaign. Kaka also won the election from Andhra Pradesh and reached the Lok Sabha. But throughout that campaign the boy realized one thing that whatever he wanted to do, he should not go into politics. He neither liked politics nor its process.
The boy was lazy and food was the love of his life, another dream was growing in his mind. He had a future plan in mind, he would open his own restaurant and serve delicious food. But what shape the bud will take when it blooms cannot be predicted in advance. Each bud has its own specific shape. Something similar happened to this boy. Father was a filmmaker, the boy loved food more than movies. But destiny chose to make him an actor and that actor’s name is Vidrohi Star Prabhas. He has also said in one place that, “It’s a good thing I became an actor, otherwise I would have been a 140 kg businessman eating butter chicken by now.”

Everyone except mother wanted Prabhas to become an actor. Mother wanted him to do a job and be happy. But then again the same thing. Uncle Krishnam Raju was a big actor in the Telugu industry. This is the uncle for whom Prabhas campaigned. It is said that Prabhas decided to become an actor after seeing him in a film called ‘Bhakta Kannappa’.
One day uncle offered a picture. He wanted to sign Prabhas as the lead in the film, as the character in the film was somewhat similar to Prabhas. Prabhas avoided him for a long time, but how long can the family be avoided! Finally he said yes to the film. The film was released in 2002, titled ‘Ishwar’. This film could not do anything special. But just 2 years later, the film ‘Varsham’ gave Prabhas recognition in the Telugu industry.
Rajamouli gave his first taste of stardom
It was Rajamouli who made Prabhas a pan-India star. Rajamouli also gave Prabhas his first taste of stardom. People started to recognize Prabhas from ‘Varsham’, but Rajamouli’s ‘Chhatrapathi’ made him a star in the Telugu industry. The audience loved his unique style and charm in this film. In South it is customary to give titles to every actor.
Prabhas did a film called ‘Darling’, hence Darling came before his name. Then he did the film ‘Rebel’, earning him the title of Young Rebel. The young rebel because his uncle was known as Rebel Star. But gradually Young was dropped from Prabhas’ name, leaving only Rebel. However, he is known in the Telugu industry for his three films, one ‘Chhatrapati’, the second ‘Darling’ and the third ‘Mirchi’. After this came ‘Baahubali’ and the Telugu star became a pan-India star.

Many people think that Prabhas’ first Hindi film is ‘Saaho’. But his first Bollywood film was Ajay Devgn’s ‘Action Jackson’. He did not play a major role in this film. He had a small cameo in the film’s song ‘Surya Ast Punjabi Mast’. In this, she was seen dancing with Ajay Devgn and Sonakshi.
A hit film by Hrithik Roshan made Prabhas a pan-India star
The first part of ‘Baahubali’ was released in 2015. But its preparation started four years ago. At first Rajamouli approached Hrithik Roshan for this, after his refusal, ‘Baahubali’ came to Prabhas’ account and became the biggest film of his career. This film changed the course of his career. For this he also worked hard, giving four and a half years of his career to a film is no small thing. For this he increased his weight by 30 kg and took it to 105 kg.
Most importantly, he maintained this weight for four years. In fact, Rajamouli signed Prabhas because of his height and body. They wanted a tall and tall man for Amarendra and Mahendra Baahubali and after Hrithik, they only looked at Prabhas, whom both have worked together before.
The offer of crores for ‘Baahubali’ was rejected.
Prabhas did not sign another film for ‘Baahubali’ for four years. So much so that there came a time when Prabhas faced shortage of money as he was not signing any films. He warned his manager not to take money from anyone for the future. So that Prabhas does not feel any kind of burden. With his 2011 film ‘Rebel’ and 2013 ‘Mirchi’ proving to be big hits, producers were eager to cast him in their films. Some producers were willing to give him money for free, he wanted nothing in return. But Prabhas was bitten by the bug called ‘Baahubali’.
When he faced shortage of money, he called Rajamouli. He said that people are ready to give money without any conditions. Rajamouli advised that such people should write an affidavit that the money has nothing to do with work. But Prabhas was not ready to do so. What do they think people will do if they come somewhere and ask for their money back? In this matter, he rejected the advertisement of 10 crore rupees.

‘Baahubali’ made Prabhas a star across India. His fan following grew overnight. After the film, 6000 girls sent him marriage proposals. He started getting a lot of advertisements. In this sequence, he got an advertisement for a fairness cream worth Rs 18 crore, but he refused to do it. The reason given was that he was not in favor of such creams, it was against his morals. Many reports also published that Prabhas rejected a Rs 150 crore offer from a brand. He had some personal reasons for this.
1650 acres of forest has been taken in its lap
Prabhas is also very active in social life. During the shooting of a film, he came to know that one of his 20-year-old fans was suffering from cancer. He took a break especially for this film and went to the hospital to meet fans. He has adopted Kazhipalli Forest Reserve spread over 1650 acres. And he has adopted this forest in his father’s name. He continues to do many such social works.
Prabhas’ fan wrote a suicide letter

Prabhas’ film ‘Radheshyam’ was slated to release in 2020. The film was postponed due to covid. When there was no update regarding the film’s release for several months, a fan tried to commit suicide out of boredom. He also wrote a formal suicide note, in which he blamed the producers for the suicide. However, the fan was saved.
Prabhas sent so much food that he had to book a separate room.
Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, who had worked with Prabhas in ‘Salar’, was once asked why everyone calls Prabhas darling? On this he said it was a favourite, as there was never a time on set that he didn’t ask someone if they needed something. Should I send something to eat? Prithviraj says that in such a situation, if you make the mistake of telling Prabhas your favorite dish, be prepared to eat at least a village’s worth of food, as Prabhas will send enough food to feed the entire village.
Talking to Bhaskar, Prithviraj said, “Our shooting went on for a long time. I was away from home for a long time. My family came to meet me on the sets. My nine-year-old daughter casually told Prabhas about her favorite dishes. Believe me, I had to take a different room in the hotel that evening. So that I can keep all the food that Prabhas sent for my daughter. He sent his Lamborghini for me, as my car was missing on set.
However, the matter is progressing. Prabhas’ life is becoming like this. His film Kalki 2898 AD is releasing on 27th June. There is tremendous buzz about the film.
