Chaos erupted at a wedding in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, when the groom refused to take seven rounds with the bride. Due to which a brawl broke out between the bride and groom party. Both the parties were brought to the police station when the matter reached the police. The panchayat continued here throughout the night. After that, the next day at noon, the Phera ceremony took place with the mediation of elite people including the police. After that the bridegroom left.

The case is from a village in Bilsi police station area. A girl living here was married to a young man living in Sisarka village of Faizganj Behta police station area. On Thursday, the wedding procession reached the girl’s house. The procession was received with great enthusiasm. The groom reached the stage. The bride was also brought. Jayamala ceremony was performed. Then came the turn of taking seven rounds. Both were seated on the pavilion. Then some ornaments were given to the bride by the groom’s party.

After seeing the ornaments, the bride’s mother told the son-in-law some things which he did not like at all. This angered the bridegroom. He said that I will not do this marriage. Everyone present was astonished to hear what the bridegroom said. The bridegroom was explained. But he was adamant that it would not take seven rounds. The marriage was annulled from my side. The bride’s mother asked the groom why you have brought so few ornaments. This is not jewelry as much as you said. The groom did not like these words of his mother-in-law. He felt they had insulted him. Due to this issue, the groom refused to marry.

There was a huge uproar between the bride and groom party. Meanwhile, someone informed the police. At the scene, the police reached the police station with both the parties. There, the girl’s side accused the groom’s family of demanding dowry. At the same time, the groom’s party said that the bride’s party misbehaved with him over the jewelry. Both sides were explained throughout the night. The discussion continued till the afternoon the next day. Finally an agreement was reached between the two parties. Then the bridegroom took seven feras with the bride and took her with him.
