Longing for ‘Gajraj’

You may have heard many stories of the madness of human love, but have you ever heard the love story of a baby elephant? An elephant who was so impatient in love with the elephants that he ran after them into the forest. The insanity of a six-year-old male elephant named Gajraj in Dudhwa National Park in Lakhimpur Kheri is in the news these days. His desire to meet his beloved elephants became so great that he broke the chains on his legs and ran away to the forest.

This love story of Gajraj has become a challenge for the park administration as they are trying to bring him back to the camp, but so far without success. Four elephants, including two elephants named Roop Kali and Chameli, were taken to the forest to graze in Dudhwa National Park. When this news reached the ears of Gajraj, he broke the chains on his legs and ran straight to the forest.

All greed pales in comparison to love

For Gajraj, this was not an escape, but a way to meet his beloved. Without any fear he approached the forest, where his girlfriend was already present. The Dudhwa administration is now making several attempts to bring Gajraj back to the camp but all efforts are going in vain. Attempts are made to lure Gajraj back to the camp by tempting him with bananas and other tasty fruits, but these lures pale in comparison to Gajraj’s love.

Gajraj became a victim of excitement

Dudhwa National Park Deputy Director Dr. Rangaranju T said that this is the breeding season of elephants and during this time the male elephants are very excited. Gajraj also fell victim to this excitement and the memory of his beloved made him so anxious that he broke his chains and took to the forest road. However, Gajraj’s escape put the Dudhwa administration on full alert. Park staff are constantly monitoring so that Gajraj and other elephants can be safely brought back to the camp. It is also being ensured that no untoward incident takes place and all the elephants are safe.

Gajraj will return to the camp soon

The administration hopes that Gajraj will return to his camp soon. However, this whole incident proved once again that the feeling and love between animals is as strong as human love. This love story of Gajraj has become a topic of discussion not only in Dudhwa National Park but in the entire region. Currently, Gajraj and his girlfriend are under constant surveillance and the administration hopes that they will return to the camp soon.
