This new bridge is being built adjacent to the existing Malviya Bridge. Malviya Bridge is the oldest bridge in the country and is 137 years old. The new bridge will replace the old Malviya bridge. Giving information, Cabinet Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday approved the Road-Rail Bridge project of the Ministry of Railways. The estimated cost of this project is said to be Rs 2,642 crore. Completion of this project will reduce congestion. This bridge will have two floors. On the first floor there will be four train tracks. Where the Vande Bharat train will pass to the logistics train. On the other hand, a 6-lane road will be built on the second floor. Another 24 million tons of cargo will be able to move over the road and rail bridge.

During the construction of this bridge, direct employment of approximately 10 lakh man-days will be generated.
