‘The Kandahar Hijack’ Web Series Controversy Grows, Government Summons Netflix India Head

IC-814: Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has issued summons to Netflix India’s content head in the Kandahar hijack web series controversy. News agency ANI has quoted sources as saying that the platform’s India content head Monica Shergill has been asked to appear tomorrow, Tuesday. The names of the hijackers Bhola and Shankar in Anubhav Sinha’s web series IC-814: The Kandahar Hijack are controversial.

IC-814: The Kandahar Hijack web series has been released on Netflix on August 29. After its release, there has been an uproar about it on social media. It is alleged that the makers have deliberately named the terrorists as Bhola and Shankar. The series is based on the 1999 Kandahar plane hijack.
