Superstition took the lives of mother and son

Even today in the age of knowledge, science and modernity there are many areas in the country where people are trapped in superstition. A recent illustration of how deeply rooted superstitions are, especially in rural areas, is seen in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. Here, after a mother and son were bitten by a snake, instead of taking them to the hospital for immediate treatment, the family members took them both to the local temple of Dangi Baba for treatment.

Here the family members and villagers waited for the son’s recovery in the temple by ringing the bell for about 6 hours. But as their condition did not improve, the family took them to the hospital but by then it was too late. Doctors declared both mother and son dead on reaching the hospital. After this, once again the family members stayed with the bodies of the mother and son for several hours in the shelter of the gods and goddesses, hoping for the recovery of both.

Mother and son bitten by a snake

The family lost two more days in this matter and later sent the bodies of mother and son for post-mortem. This whole case of superstition is from Rarua village in Chinaur police station area of Bhitarwar tehsil, where a mother and son sleeping on the same bed were bitten by a venomous snake sometime between Saturday and Sunday around 1 am. After this, instead of taking the snakebitten mother Ram, daughter and her son Arjun Parihar to the hospital for treatment in an unconscious state, the family took them to the village’s famous Dangi Baba temple.

He was taken to the hospital as his health worsened

Here an attempt was made to heal both through worship for a long time. Meanwhile, the people of the village were also present there. It is being told that when there was no relief in the temple and the condition of the mother and son also started to deteriorate, both were taken to Gwalior District Hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead. Even after this, the family once again kept wandering around the place of the gods and goddesses with the dead bodies of both in the hope of mother and son’s well-being and when they were not seen. With no hope, they once again went to the famous dangi of the village. Later on Tuesday, when the family members reached Bhitarwar Community Health Center with the bodies of both, the post mortem was done on the bodies of the mother and son.
