Connection between CID TV show and Aamir Khan’s ‘Lagaan’

Whenever the best films of Aamir Khan’s career are mentioned, the 2001 release ‘Lagaan’ is definitely mentioned. People liked this sports drama film which depicts the story during the British Raj. Although there have been many sports films in Bollywood, but rarely have people loved this film as much as this one. Aamir played the role of Bhuvan in the film, who plays cricket matches with the British in lieu of paying taxes.

‘Lagaan’ was directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. We all have seen this movie, but there is an interesting story associated with it, which you hardly know about. Linkage of CID and ‘Lagaan’

‘CID’ was started in the year 1998. B.P. Directed by Singh, this film made a special place in people’s hearts within a short time. Initially, Ashutosh Gowariker also worked in this show. In this show he played the role of Inspector Virendra. While working on this show, he met B.P. Singh said that he was going to make a film. If the film does well he won’t come back, but if it doesn’t do well he will take him back to the show.

Actor Dayanand Shetty, who plays Daya in the show, said in an interview that Ashutosh Gowariker had planned a lot for ‘Lagaan’. All meetings related to the film took place between shots on the sets of CID. He had a separate room on the set, where 8-10 people sat. After giving a shot, he used to ask the director if his work was done. If the answer was yes then he would go to that room to have a meeting for ‘lagan’. Later, when the next shot was recorded, he was called that the shot was ready. So he will come and shoot his part again.

‘Lagaan’ was nominated at the Oscars

His decision to leave ‘CID’ for ‘Lagaan’ proved absolutely right. The film also went to the Oscars. The film was nominated at the 74th Academy Awards. This film also earned great money at the box office. According to Box Office India, the film, made on a budget of Rs 24 crore, collected Rs 65 crore worldwide. Along with Aamir, ‘Lagaan’ also featured stars like Gracie Singh, Raghubir Yadav, Yashpal Sharma and Pradeep Ram Singh Rawat. After this picture, Ashutosh also made films like ‘Swadesh’, ‘Jodha Akbar’, ‘Mohenjo Daro’.

This actor replaced Ashutosh

After Ashutosh Gowariker left CID, the character of Inspector Veerendra was eliminated and a new character named Abhijeet was introduced. Abhijeet was played by actor Aditya Srivastava, who was preferred over Ashutosh in the show. In no time this character of ‘CID’ became the most beloved of people. The show was closed in the year 2018.
