Former MLA and Muslimman Udaybhan Karwaria

It was the month of August in the year 1996 in Prayagraj (then Allahabad). There was a huge commotion outside the Palace Theater in Civil Lines. At the same time SP MLA Jawahar Yadav came in his Maruti car. He stopped here when a van coming from behind overtook his car. Before Jawahar Yadav realized anything and got out of the car and did something to save himself, a young man who got into the van started firing indiscriminately. At that time the people of Allahabad saw for the first time such a weapon, which fired indiscriminately.

The perpetrator of this crime was none other than Allahabad’s Bara MLA Udaybhan Karwaria. While Udaybhan Karwaria, whose father and sand mafia Bhukkal Maharaj once spoke against him in Allahabad, the police claim that AK47 was used here for the first time in Allahabad’s criminal history. Three people were killed in the incident and Udaybhan Karwaria, his brother and former MP Surajbhan Karwaria were sentenced to life imprisonment in the same case.

Police officers were also afraid of Udaybhan’s father.

Courtesy of the state government, Udaybhan Karwaria has been released from prison a day ago, so it is only natural to take a look at his criminal and political history. Udaybhan Karwaria inherited his criminal heritage from his father. His father Bhukkal Maharaj was so feared in Allahabad that even big industrialists used to tremble at his name. His fear can be estimated from the incident in 1981.

Bhukkal Maharaj was the big mafia of Purvanchal.

At that time Chaudhary Naunihal Singh, Home Minister of BP Singh Government in Uttar Pradesh came to meet Allahabad SSP Haridas Rao. The SSP expressed his gratitude to Nainihal Singh when he identified the youth accompanying him as Bhukkal Maharaj from the SSP. He said that it was by his grace that he could see the face of the biggest scoundrel. However, when the then CM BP Singh got the news of this meeting, he not only suspended the SSP, but also took away the home ministry from minister Chaudhary Naunihal Singh and asked him to look after the education department.

Father Bhukkal Maharaj could not enter politics

After this incident, mafia don Bhukkal Maharaj alias Vashishth Narayan Karwaria tried his luck in politics. He also contested as an independent three times from Allahabad (North) and Allahabad (South), but lost. Bhukkal Maharaj was also the criminal mastermind of Purvanchal mafia don Atiq Ahmed. Later, by killing Bhukkal Maharaj, Atiq Ahmed took over the illegal business of sand mining, real estate, government contracts etc. from the banks of the Yamuna.

First time MLA Udaybhan Karwariya in 2002

After the assassination of Bhukkal Maharaj, his son Uday Bhan Karwaria fulfilled his father’s dream by winning from the Bara seat in 2002. Udaybhan Karwaria won again in 2007 on a BJP ticket. Also, following in the footsteps of his father, Udaybhan also took the path of crime and decided to be enmity with Atiq. Soon this enmity grew to such an extent that Atiq Ahmed began to fear him. He also avoided getting in the way of Udaybhan Karwariya.

Jawahar massacre was suppressed due to political influence

After entering politics, Udaybhan Karwaria used his political influence to suppress the Jawahar massacre. Due to this, there was no progress in the case during the successive governments of Kalyan Singh, Ramprakash Gupta, Rajnath Singh and Mayawati. However, when Akhilesh Yadav first became CM, Jawahar Yadav’s wife met him and asked him to intervene in the matter. Following this, police cordoned off Udaybhan Karwaria and his brothers Kapil Muni Karwaria and former MP Surajbhan Karwaria. As a result, they all surrendered and were sentenced to life imprisonment in the year 2015. Since then, all of them were confined in Naini Central Jail in Prayagraj for 8 years, 3 months and 22 days.
