Filmmaker Devashish Makhija has made many great films in his career. These include ‘Ajji’, ‘Bhonsle’ and ‘Zoram’ starring Manoj Bajpayee. Recently he gave an interview, in which he talked about the difficulties of surviving in this industry. In this conversation, he revealed that it took him almost 14 years to release his first feature film. According to Devashish, if someone had told him at that time that it would take so long to launch his career, he would have packed his bags and returned to his hometown, Kolkata.

Devashish said that he has been working in Mumbai for the past two decades, but has yet to stabilize himself financially. According to Devashish, he is still worried about where his next check will come from.

What did Devashish Makhija say?

In an interview given to Long Live Cinema YouTube channel, he said that even today he hesitates to talk about his struggles. He said, “Even today when I call any actor or anyone else for a meeting, they ask where is your office. I say, I don’t have an office, so let me know where you are, or we can meet at a coffee shop. Then I’ll tell you which coffee shop it is, because I can’t afford most coffee shops in Versova. I’m still in the same place.”
