The country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the country’s first Vande Metro on Monday. The first Vande Metro from Ahmedabad to Bhuj in Gujarat will completely change intercity travel. When PM Modi is in Ahmedabad, the train will start from Bhuj and reach Ahmedabad in 5.45 hours covering a distance of 359 km. Its regular passenger service will start from Ahmedabad from September 17 and the fare to travel in this train will be Rs 455. While other metros cover only short distances, Vande Metro trains will connect peripheral cities to the city centre.
What is the speed of the train?
Giving complete details about Vande Metro and other metros running in the country, the Railway Ministry said that Vande Metro runs at a maximum speed of 110 kmph. According to the ministry, with ergonomically designed seats, air-conditioned cabin and modular interior, Vande Metro will definitely prove to be better than other metros. Highlighting the safety aspects, the Railway Ministry said that Vande Metro is equipped with advanced safety systems like collision avoidance, fire detection and aerosol-based fire extinguishing as well as emergency lights.
1150 passengers in 12 coaches
The ministry said that state-of-the-art technology, including suspended propulsion and an advanced braking system, has been used in Vande Metro. Thanks to which passengers can travel smoothly. With 12 carriages with a capacity of 1,150 passengers, Vande Metro offers many new facilities. The ministry said it has automatic double-leaf sliding doors similar to those on urban metro trains and a fully sealed flexible walkway that ensures a dust-free, silent and rain-proof interior.

According to the ministry, compared to traditional suburban trains and metro coaches, Vande Metro has a modular design that includes ejector and vacuum evacuation toilets. Vande Metro is designed to connect cities within a radius of 150 km, providing an efficient and comfortable journey of about 3 to 4 hours. Passengers can travel on Vande Metro. The ministry said that there are similar semi-permanent couplers in Vande Bharat trains. Also, passengers do not suffer any kind of shock on the train. These trains have Type C and Type A sockets for charging passengers’ mobile phones. CCTV and route map indicators above the doors are provided for added safety.
