Atishi will be the new Chief Minister of Delhi
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is out of jail on bail in the Delhi liquor case, will resign from his post on Tuesday evening. Ahead of Kejriwal’s resignation, Atishi has been named as the leader of Aam Aadmi Party’s legislature party, after which he will now be crowned Chief Minister. In such a situation, Kejriwal has created a master stroke for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections by handing Atishi the command of Delhi. In such a situation, it remains to be seen what will be the strategy of BJP and Congress?
Atishi, who is about to become Chief Minister, has traveled from MLA to Minister to Chief Minister in a five-year political career. In 2019, she contested from the East Delhi Lok Sabha seat, but did not win. After this, Atishi became an MLA for the first time in 2020. Atishi has been working with the Aam Aadmi Party and the Kejriwal government for a long time and has also been an advisor to former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. After this, when Sisodia went to jail, he became a minister in his place and now he is going to sit on the chief minister’s chair. Not only has Kejriwal handed over the post of CM to Atishi, but the election has been conducted according to a well-thought-out strategy, the advantage of which is being considered as a bet to take advantage of in the assembly elections.
A bid to win over women voters
Arvind Kejriwal has made a move to attract women votes by selecting Atishi as the Chief Minister of Delhi. In Delhi, 46 percent are female voters while 54 percent are male and third gender. If we look at the voting pattern of women in Delhi, they vote more than men. In such a situation, the Aam Aadmi Party has decided to make Atishi the CM and has created a challenge for the BJP and the Congress by playing the game of women’s empowerment. In the changing political climate of Delhi, women voters are playing an important role in winning and losing elections.

Kejriwal government is kind to women
After coming to power in Delhi, Kejriwal has been kind to women. In 2019, the Kejriwal government provided free bus travel to women in Delhi. Free bus service facility is available in Noida-NCR, Airport and DTC and cluster buses. About 40 percent of women in Delhi are availing this facility. Not only this, Kejriwal has also started ‘Mahila Mohalla Clinic’ in Delhi, in which women are treated by women doctors. Now there is a move to indulge half the population by making a woman CM.
A political message for Punjabi society
The Aam Aadmi Party has tried to send a political message to Delhi’s Punjabi community by making Atishi the CM. Atishi comes from a Punjabi background. He is a Punjabi Rajput. Punjabi voters are considered very important and crucial in Delhi politics. Throughout BJP’s politics, its focus has been on the Punjabi and Vaishya communities in Delhi. Kejriwal himself hails from the Vaishya community and after entering politics he has been able to win the trust of the Vaishya community. To maintain the confidence of the Punjabi votes, Kejriwal has moved to make Atishi the CM in his place.
30 percent Punjabi community
About 30 percent of the population in Delhi belongs to the Punjabi community. Over 10 percent of them belong to Punjabi Khatris and 8 percent to Rajput-Jat and 12 percent to Vaishya community. The Punjabi community decided the win and loss in Delhi’s Vikaspuri, Rajouri Garden, Chandni Chowk, Hari Nagar, Tilak Nagar, Janakpuri, Moti Nagar, Rajendra Nagar, Greater Kailash, Jagatpura, Gandhi Nagar, Model Town, Laxmi Nagar and Rohini assembly seats. Punjabi voters were once considered the BJP’s traditional vote bank.
Bet to keep the faith
In Delhi, the trio of Madanlal Khurana, Vijay Kumar Malhotra and Kedarnath Sahni were considered the Punjabi face of the BJP. BJP was able to come to power in 1993 with the help of Punjabi voters. At present, BJP does not have any big face from the Punjabi community. In such a situation, Arvind Kejriwal may have handed over the reins of power to Atishi for some time, but he is being considered as a bet to maintain the trust of the Punjabi community.
The trump card of the education model
Atishi may have become an MLA in 2020 and is going to become a minister and now chief minister, but she has been associated with the Aam Aadmi Party since its inception. Atishi played an important role in the revolutionary changes that took place in Delhi’s government schools. Atishi was Sisodia’s advisor when he was Education Minister. In such a situation, it is believed that on Atishi’s suggestion, Manish Sisodia made many changes in Delhi’s education and worked to improve the model of education in Delhi’s government schools.
Happiness curriculum was launched in Delhi schools. This course is for Delhi government school children. The Happiness Curriculum aims to strengthen children emotionally from nursery to 8th standard. After this, he became an MLA from Kalkaji seat on an Aam Aadmi Party ticket and held the responsibilities of all important departments while being a Cabinet Minister.
Became Kejriwal’s confidant
While working with the Aam Aadmi Party, Atishi not only won the confidence of Chief Minister Kejriwal but also emerged as trustworthy. That is why Kejriwal chose Atishi’s name to replace him as CM. Kejriwal has given him the post of chief minister only till the next election. In such a situation, if the results of the assembly elections go in favor of the Aam Aadmi Party, then Kejriwal himself will take over the reins of power. In such a situation, there was a search for a reliable leader of the party, who could work as per his will and not rebel after the elections. We have seen the trend of Jitanram Manjhi in Bihar and Champai Soren in Jharkhand. That’s why he chose Atishi very thoughtfully. Atishi has also taken steps in the same direction.
Sharp and aggressive face
It may have been five years since Atishi entered the political arena, but she has emerged as the face of flamboyant and aggressive politics. After Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh went to jail, Atishi was seen fighting for the Aam Aadmi Party from the streets to the home. Atishi put her and the party’s point forward emphatically. In this way, Atishi did not let Kejriwal feel his absence. Now that Kejriwal is handing over the reins of power in his hands, the question will be who will be the face of opposition against Atishi. BJP and Congress have no female face to take on Atishi in Delhi. In this way Atishi will now play openly as Chief Minister and increase the tension for the opposition as well?
