Started career with Kannada cinema
Om Puri started his film career with Kannada cinema. His first film was ‘Kalla Kalla Bachitko’, which came out in 1975. After this film, along with Kannada, he acted in many other language films including Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Bengali, Malayalam, Telugu, English, Hindi. According to reports, he did more than 300 films in his career. His journey to reach here was not an easy one, even though he holds a big position in the industry. His childhood was spent in poverty.
The financial condition of Om Puri’s family was not good. According to the report, when he was five years old, he used to collect coal from the railway tracks and bring it home, with which his mother cooked food. Not only this, he also worked at a tea shop to support the family.
Got interested in acting in college
Reports also say that during his college days he worked as a lab assistant and also taught tuition in the evenings. It is also said that his college was 30 kilometers away from his house and he used to cover this distance by bicycle. It is said that he got interested in acting during his college days and started participating in theater plays. And from there he started his journey towards Bollywood. And decided that people remember him even after his departure from this world.
