Filmmaker Ronnie Screwvala
If we ask who has the most property among Bollywood celebrities then everyone’s answer would be Shah Rukh Khan or Salman Khan. But that’s not the case, there is one producer in the film world who has beaten everyone in terms of wealth. Even if the entire wealth of the three Khans – Salman, Shahrukh and Aamir – is combined, it will be less than the net worth of this filmmaker. We are talking about Ronnie Screwvala, who has produced ‘Uri- The Surgical Strike’, ‘Kedarnath’ and many more. Rony is the founder of RSVP Film Production Company.
Ronnie was born in Mumbai and completed his schooling and college there. Ronnie was interested in theater right from his school days, which led him to play in Bombay theatres. He participated in many great plays like ‘Shakespeare’s Othello’ and ‘Death of a Salesman’. In the year 1990, Rony started his first television production house named UTV by investing Rs 37 thousand. Gradually he transformed it into a media conglomerate, which also included the film production studio UTV Motion Pictures.
Many wonderful films were made
Several films were made under the banner of UTV production house, including ‘Swadesh’, ‘Rang De Basanti’, ‘Barfi’ and ‘Haider’. Later in the year 2012, Rony sold this production to Walt Disney for 3.7 thousand crore rupees. After selling UTV, Ronnie started RSVP Film Production Company, under whose banner blockbusters like ‘Raat Akeli Hai’, ‘Sonchiriya’, ‘The Sky is Pink’, ‘Saam Bahadur’, ‘Tejas’ were produced. Most of these films have done well at the box office.
