The Tata Group’s airline Air India is in the news again. In fact, the FSSAI issued a correction notice to the airline in case a blade-like object was found in food during a flight. Airline meals are supplied by TajSats. FSSAI has also given 15 days to the airline to rectify the error.
What’s the whole deal?
A blade-like object was found in food served to a passenger on an Air India flight from Bengaluru to San Francisco. Even before, flight passengers often complained about the poor quality of the food. Recently, this advisory was issued after a blade-like object was found in food. This incident occurred on June 9. FSSAI conducted an inspection at TajSATS Bengaluru. Food was supplied to the airline from there.
15-day extension granted
Under the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006, if a food business operator has failed to comply with any standards and must take necessary action within a reasonable period, they may be issued an improvement notice. He said the company has been asked to comply with the notice within 15 days.
Air India and its catering partner TajSATS are owned by the Tata Group. The airline apologized Monday for the incident. The incident occurred at a vegetable processing machine used at its catering partner TajSATS. The Food Safety Authority discovered that the blade of an automatic vegetable cutter had detached and become stuck inside a piece of vegetable.
Instructions to follow these steps
To prevent similar incidents, TajSATS has been ordered to strengthen inspection and maintenance procedures as well as take other corrective measures, including installing X-ray machines and manually cutting vegetables. FSSAI had recently issued an improvement notice to IndiGo. He said the FSSAI held several meetings with airlines and food suppliers and asked them to follow food safety norms.
