In New Delhi, Union Water Power Minister CR Patil reviewed the progress of Uttar Pradesh’s Jal Jeevan Mission and said that more than 84 per cent rural households in UP are getting tap water, a commendable achievement. Along with this, he congratulated the state government and department officials. Meanwhile, Chief Secretary of Namami Gange Division gave a presentation on behalf of UP Government. Also informed about the progress of the scheme in Vindhya and Bundelkhand.
Union Water Power Minister CR Patil has praised the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission in Uttar Pradesh. He has said that UP has done a great campaign to bring tap water to every home. Now is the time to make people aware. Villagers should realize that every drop of water is very precious. Its protection is essential.
Water has reached most of the houses in UP
He has asked UP to run a separate campaign for this. The Union Minister was reviewing the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission in UP in New Delhi on Monday. Namami Gange and Anurag Srivastava, Principal Secretary, Department of Rural Water Supply, made a presentation on behalf of the Government of Uttar Pradesh. He said how UPA has overcome all challenges and provided water connections to most of the families in Vindhya and Bundelkhand.
He also presented details of the progress of the scheme in Purvanchal, Western Uttar Pradesh and other areas of the state to the central government. The Union Minister appreciated UP’s progress on this. He said that no one had thought that women in areas like Bundelkhand would get relief from the problem of carrying water. We have been successful in doing this under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi.
Tap from 2 percent houses to 84 percent houses
In this meeting, Union Minister C.R. Patil, UP Government Water Power Minister Swatantra Dev Singh, Union Minister of State V Somanna and Dr. Rajbhushan Chaudhary and Chief Secretary to UP Government Anurag Srivastava and others were present. He said that in a huge state like Uttar Pradesh, only 2% of households had access to tap water when the mission was announced. Now that more than 84% of rural households have access to tap water, this is commendable. I congratulate the State Government and the officials of the department.
