Swift action against 32 illegal bars and pubs in Pune, CM Shinde drives bulldozer

Dozens of pubs, hotels and bars were bulldozed in several areas of Thane district, adjacent to Mumbai, following an order issued by CM Eknath Shinde on Wednesday. Following the CM’s order, illegal pubs, hotels and bars were bulldozed on Thursday in Pune as well.

This operation is being done jointly by the Pune Municipal Corporation and the police. So far, a total of 32 illegal pubs and bars have been bulldozed and razed to the ground.

Licenses of 100 pubs and bars were cancelled

Not only this, the Pune Excise Department has also canceled the licenses of around 100 pubs and bars. The bulldozer operation, which was initiated after Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s notification, has been carried out in many other areas including Barner, Koregaon Park, Balewadi, Shivajinagar, Yerwada, Kalyaninagar and Sangamwadi. 32 pubs and bars have been demolished here. Besides, several pubs and bars are still on the radar of the municipality and the police, which are sure to face action in the coming days.
