On the first death anniversary of Punjabi folk singer Surinder Chhinda, Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljeet Kaur released a song and video dedicated to the late singer “Kitthe Tur Gayan Yaara”. He discussed the singer’s contribution during an event organized at Punjab Kala Bhawan, Chandigarh. He said that Surinder Chhinda’s folk singing has made an important contribution to the promotion and spread of Punjabi language.
The song “Kitthe Tur Gayan Yaara” is penned by Harpreet Sekhon and sung by Padma Shri singer Hans Raj Hans. Addressing the ceremony, Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that late Surinder Chhinda contributed to the promotion and spread of Punjabi language. The songs sung by him have gained international fame.
The Cabinet Minister said that late Surinder Chhinda introduced the present generation to the rich cultural heritage and history of Punjab through his songs. The minister said that writing a song dedicated to late Surinder Chhinda by Harpreet Sekhon is a big effort. Babu Singh Maan said that Surinder Chhinda is not with us today but his voice will always resonate.
Harpreet Singh Sekhon, who wrote the song ‘Kitte Tur Gayan Yaara’ dedicated to the late singer on Surinder Chinda’s first death anniversary, said that he had a very close relationship with Surinder Chinda and a year after his demise, it feels like he is still with us.
