His grandson Chandra Kumar Bose has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bring back the mortal remains of great freedom fighter Subhash Chandra Bose, which is kept in Japan. He said that the mortal remains of Netaji, kept at Renkoji Temple in Japan, should be brought back to India by August 18. He demanded the central government to issue a statement in this regard so that the ongoing misconceptions and rumors about Netaji can be put to an end.

Chandra Kumar Bose said that the NDA government had made public the files related to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. After 10 investigations at all national and international levels, it is clear that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose died in an air crash in Taiwan on August 18, 1945.

In an interview to PTI, Chandra Kumar Bose said that he has written to PM Modi and demanded to bring back Netaji’s body.

Netaji died in a plane crash

He claimed that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose wanted to return to his country after independence, but could not return because he died in an air crash.

Chandra Kumar Bose said that it is very insulting that Netaji’s mortal remains are still kept in the Rankoji temple. He has been writing to the PM for the last three and a half years that Netaji’s remains should be brought to India.

He said that Netaji’s daughter Anita Bose wants to perform Netaji’s last rites as per Hindu rites, but she is not able to perform the last rites as Netaji’s remains are kept at the Renkoji Temple in Japan.

Chandra Kumar Bose said that if the Government of India feels that the mortal remains kept at the Rankoji Temple are not those of Netaji, it should clarify the position by issuing a statement in this regard and not preserve them. They are expecting the PM’s statement on this.

He said that a few days ago his family members went to the Rankonji temple and met the head priest there. He said that Netaji fought for the freedom of India. So his body should be brought to India. His remains should be brought to Delhi and a memorial should be built to pay tribute to him.

He said that it is very unfortunate that PM Modi has not yet responded to his letter. Bose said that Netaji’s evacuation by Japanese military aircraft from Taiwan after Japan’s surrender in August 1945 was seen by many as a move to escape the enemy, even though his brother Sharad Chandra Bose and his widow Emily, aged 18, were killed. After August 1947 there was no information about the existence of Subhash Chandra Bose.

He said that the Justice Mukherjee Commission of Inquiry found during its investigation in 2005 that Netaji did not die in the air crash. The inquiry report was based on fundamental errors and the Government of India rejected the inquiry report.
