Bihar government took steps to stop paper leak
Nitish Kumar’s government introduced a bill in the assembly to stop examination malpractices and paper leaks. The name of the bill is Bihar Public Examination (Scheduled Means Prevention) Bill 2024. It was also passed by the House with a majority. The bill provides for 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 crore to the accused.
Bihar government minister Vijay Chaudhary said, ‘Opposition parties walked out of the House to defend the criminal. People of Bihar are also watching. Bihar government has taken the matter of paper leak seriously. 48 such cases have come up in 16 states in which examination malpractices have been committed.
He further said that Prime Minister Modi has implemented the law at the national level as well and now the Bihar government is also going to implement the law. Vijay Chaudhary said that in 1981 the Bihar Act did not have strict punishment provisions, the punishment was only 6 months. Vijay Chaudhary said that this time we have made a strict law. Those involved in the malpractice will be punished with imprisonment of three to five years and a fine of up to 10 lakh rupees. Organized crime is punishable by 5 to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to Rs 1 crore.

Apart from this bill, the Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2024 has also been passed by voice vote. The bill asks councilors of municipal bodies to move a no-confidence motion against the mayor and deputy mayor and strip them of the power to remove them.
The bill, which limits the powers of ward councillors, was introduced in the Assembly by Bihar Urban Development and Housing Minister Nitin Naveen. After the passage of this bill, the department is now expected to play an important role in initiating action against the Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
Besides, two other bills – Bihar State University Service Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2024 and Bihar School Examination Committee (Amendment) Bill, 2024 were also passed by voice vote in the Assembly.
