Gangs using bedsheets in bedsheet theft
The theft gangs have their own ways, but a shocking case has come to light in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad. Here in Indirapur on August 10, a gang of thieves stole Rs 3 crore from Sai Creations showroom, along with branded watches. The police have arrested two members of the gang, one Santosh Jaiswal and the other Rohit Paswan in the case. They stole around 700 watches from the showroom. DCP Trans Hindon Nimish Patil said that before the theft in Ghaziabad, the thieves had rented a room in Sector-63 and four members of the gang had been staying there since July 22.
According to police officials, the people who carry out the theft are associated with the Chadar gang. People of this gang steal and sell goods in Nepal. Many times, depending on demand and customer demand, they steal from larger showrooms. The setting of this particular gang involved in theft is related to Nepal. On the demand of the people of Nepal, this chadar gang from Bihar is ordered to steal and then send the stolen goods from India to Nepal.
They steal the sheets at night.
The specialty of this gang is that they use bedsheets in their thefts. The time of their theft is at night. Before stealing, they reek at the places of theft for a few days and on the night of the theft, they cover the shop or showroom with a sheet so that passers-by cannot see the scene. During the robbery, some gang members would go in and start removing the goods, while other gang members would check out and alert the other gang members when they saw someone coming. Sheet gangs use bedsheets in another way to steal. Whenever they saw someone coming to the place of theft, all the members of the gang would cover themselves with the sheets they had brought with them and sleep, so that the passers-by would not get any suspicion. After a while everyone would leave there and go to the bus stand and take a taxi. After reaching Bihar, they used to go to Nepal and deliver stolen goods.
Thieves were often asked to steal goods in advance and based on the orders they received they stole those goods and were paid in advance for this. There are 3-4 chadar gangs in Bihar which are active in such work. Around 8-10 people work in Chadar Gang, with each one having a shared work.
