State budget: The health of the state deteriorated; the debt burden increased, while per capita income also declined

Maharashtra’s financial inspection report has come out. The monsoon session of the state is going on. This is the interim budget of the Mahayuti government’s tenure. It is seen that the financial condition of the state has deteriorated. The state has also lagged behind in per capita income. But in terms of investment, the state is at the top in the country. According to the economic survey, the debt burden on the state has reached 7 lakh crores.

A steep decline in per capita income

The state has lagged behind in terms of per capita income. The state was at the fifth position in the financial year 2022-23. They have now slipped to the sixth position. Gujarat is at the top in per capita income. Now it has become one of the five states in the country. The state is a leader in foreign direct investment. However, figures show that the mountain of debt on the state is increasing.

Telangana state has won the top position in per capita income. This state is in the first place in the country. Telangana has achieved this title by pushing Karnataka behind. After Karnataka, Haryana has come in third, Tamil Nadu fourth and Gujarat fifth.

2. In 2021-22, Maharashtra ranked fifth in the country in per capita income and sixth in the financial year 2021-22.

The debt burden on the state increased

State debt increased by 13 percent compared to last year

In the financial year 2023-24, the state has a debt of 7 lakh 11 thousand 278 crores

In the year 2022-23, the debt was Rs 6 lakh 29 thousand 235 crores

Due to increase in loan, the interest amount also increased, the amount increased by 15.52% compared to the interest

2022-23- 6 lakh 29 thousand 235 crores

Estimated revenue expenditure of the state – 5 lakh 5 thousand 647 crores

Estimated revenue of the state- 19 thousand 532 crores

Actual expenditure in the year 2023-24 – 3 lakh 35 thousand 761 crores

Expenditure on district annual plans- 29 thousand 188 crores
